With many horses being turned out for the summer, bedding isn’t at the forefront of the horse owner’s mind but, with the competition and show season upon us, bedding for boxes should be considered- here are a few ideas:

Aquamax is highly absorbent, virtually dust free, eliminates the smell of ammonia and has a large surface area, meaning it absorbs moisture quickly. It’s supplied in 13.6kg bags too, so they aren’t too heavy to move around.

B
edmax is ideal for those looking for shaving with a slightly larger flake. Bedmax
is dust free, dry, hygienic, long lasting, easy to maintain and great value for money.

Littlemax
is ideal for those looking for fine shavings, for those who prefer lighter shavings. Littlemax is dust free, dry, hygienic, long lasting, easy to maintain and great value for money.

Easibed is a dust free wood fibre bedding that is comfortable and free draining, meaning that it allows wet to drain through to the base where it is absorbed.

Megazorb is a highly absorbent (the makers say that they believe it’s the most absorbent bedding available), double dusted extracted bedding, made using virgin wood pulp. It also absorbs odours and comes in 15kg bags.

Nedz Bed Pro is made using oil seed rape straw and is a ‘super absorbent alternative to straw and other bedding materials’. It’s virtually dust free and reduces ammonia levels, helping those who suffer with respiratory issues.

Horsehage is a dust free forage product that has been incredibly successful since its launch in the seventies...not only is the the official supplier of dust free forage for the British Equestrian Team, it also has a Royal Warrant, that was awarded in 1983.

What is Horsehage High Fibre made from?

It’s made using mature ryegrasses that have high fibre, low protein and low sugar levels. It is free from chemical additives, mould inhibitors, flavourings and molasses.

What kind of horse or pony can eat Horsehage High Fibre?

Due to Horsehage High Fibre’s low energy level, it’s suitable for a range of horses, providing a great fibre source for competition horses as well as native ponies, resting horses, those in work and even laminitics. It’s a really good product to feed because of the reliable, consistent quality and its dust free nature, making it perfect for horses that are stabled.

In addition to Horsehage High Fibre, there are different versions to cater for different needs, such as Ryegrass for horses in work, who need to gain weight and improve condition; Timothy for fussy feeders that need a high fibre, low protein dust free forage; and Alfalfa that has higher nutrient levels making it suitable for horses in hard work or those in poor condition.
