To replace electrolytes.
When horses sweat they lose vital water and body salts (electrolytes). Prolonged sweating, whether during exercise, performance or travelling, can result in dehydration, decreased performance, fatigue, muscle cramping and other problems. Maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance is essential for optimum performance. Research has shown that administering an electrolyte before, during and after work can delay the onset of fatigue dramatically.
Baileys Aqua-Aide contains key salts, including potassium chloride and magnesium, in addition to the commonly included sodium chloride, plus sufficient dextrose for optimum absorption. It is designed to be administered according to length and intensity of work done. It can be fed ad hoc (whenever the horse sweats), on an ongoing basis or before, during and after competition days. Its highly palatable formulation can be administered in water or wet (sloppy) feed.
